Our wonderful Samara is on the move

group photo of UHS staff at Samara's farewell

A large gathering of staff farewelled our amazing Aboriginal Education Officer Samara Williams as she has been appointed by the Brisbane Broncos as the Regional Coordinator for the girls academy as part of their community engagement program. How lucky are they? We will miss Samara immensely.

Aunty Nell with Samara

Over the years Samara has been instrumental in supporting our Aboriginal students in reaching their full potential. Her passion, care, and sheer hard work to ensure every opportunity is provided from supporting them at the homework centre, in class, with cultural camps, university entry forms, Bangarra Dance rehearsals, and a friendly ear to chat to and of course always made sure that the Gunya room had lots of good things to eat.  Her kind and caring devotion will always have a place in our hearts. All the best Samara.

A text message from a previous student:

Hi Samara just messaging to say that I have finished my enrolment and have accommodation at uni and am moving on the 1st of February. I wanted to message and say thank you so much for all the tremendous amounts of support you and the other supporting teachers at Ulladulla high have given to me on this journey in life. There have been many times I’ve thought to give up on my dream but was always encouraged to keep pushing and moving forward thanks to all of you. So thank you and I definitely hope to stay in contact as I complete my course at Wollongong.
