Year 7
At Ulladulla High School we focus on the implementation of quality teaching and learning programs that enrich, extend and engage all year 7 students within the supportive framework of our Stage 4.
English and HSIE are closely aligned - taught by the same teacher, with the focus firmly set on rich, deep learning.
We believe that setting high expectations and building significant relationships with students, parents, carers, and teachers will provide the foundations required for student success at Ulladulla High School and beyond.
Year 8
At Ulladulla High School, the English faculty are focused on the implementation of quality teaching and learning programs that enrich, extend and engage all Year 8 students. We help students set realistic goals that will allow them to achieve excellence in their academic studies. We believe that building significant relationships with students, teachers, parents and carers– setting combined high expectations will provide the foundations required for student success.
In English, students will engage with a variety of texts in a range of mediums that will allow them to explore the way in which composers communicate meaning to a range of audiences. Underpinning all that we do is the essential literacy development of students through continuous revision of skills to enhance reading and writing.
Year 9
At Ulladulla High School, the English faculty continues to implement rigorous and challenging quality teaching and learning programs. We build on the skills students have developed in the Stage 4 course and continue to assist students in their pursuit for academic excellence. The high expectations established in Stage 4 continue and the partnerships we have fostered between parents, carers, students and teachers remain significant for student success.
In English, students begin to engage with texts of more complexity and analyse the relationships between texts and the world around you. In the study of texts students will learn about the conventions used to create meaning and how to manipulate these to compose texts of growing sophistication. Underpinning all we do is the essential literacy development of students through the provision of rich curriculum and the revision of skills to develop reading and writing.
Year 10
At Ulladulla High School, the English faculty continues to implement rigorous and challenging quality teaching and learning programs. We will build on the skills students have developed during year 9 and continue to assist students in their pursuit for academic excellence as part of their RoSA (Record of School Achievement). In English students will continue to engage with texts of more complexity and analyse the relationships between texts and the world around them. Students will learn about the conventions used to create meaning and how to manipulate these to compose texts of growing sophistication.
In the absence of the School Certificate examination students will be engaged in ongoing assessment through the collation of a folio that exemplifies their composing and responding development. This is an essential and compulsory component of this course and will be monitored closely by the class room teacher and the Head Teacher English.
