Big Picture Camp

Student in costume

Depot Beach was the perfect setting for this year’s Big Picture camp, offering a stunning coastline and abundant wildlife. Students participated in various activities, including initiative games led by Year 11, an Easter treasure hunt by Year 9, and woodfire pizza cooking with Mr. Barry and Mr. Richo. The camp encouraged students to disconnect and connect with nature, with activities that challenged both mind and body, even after Darcy’s pizza caught fire. Highlights included snorkelling at Pebbly Beach with ‘Scuba Steve’, where students encountered marine life like octopuses and a banjo shark, and canoeing at Durras Lake, which quickly became a playful battle. The MasterChef challenge saw Year 11 win with wonton soup and sushi mini rolls, while students enjoyed meals in costume. On the final morning, despite light rain, students packed up camp and surf legend Pam Burridge led a session at North Durras, where all students stood on their boards. Year 10 students ran a fun beach building competition. Reflecting on the camp, Hayley celebrated the magic of surfing, Tahlia appreciated the sense of belonging, and Lacey valued the deeper connections with peers, making Big Picture Camp 2025 a great success.
