Having vision, stepping beyond the classroom - Jack Ridley

Jack Ridley is one of those quiet achievers who never makes waves, is always on time for class, in uniform, has a vision for his future and is determined to take opportunities in Year 9 to put himself out in front. These are the qualities Willinga Park were looking for when they offered Jack two weeks work experience in preparation for the World Championship Gold Buckle Campdraft event held 16th-18th May. Jack was lucky enough to be offered the only work experience given at Willinga Park. Jack worked alongside a Stock Horse Manager and Cattle Manager to gain the inside edge which he hopes will be what he needs to complete a School Based Traineeship in Y10 in Agriculture or Rural Operations. Jack’s vision was clear in Year 8 where he chose  electives to focus on Metal and Welding, Commerce to develop business sense and Agriculture, his passion. Outside school, Jack manages and works on a property at the back of Milton where he moves cattle from paddock to paddock, maintains the paddocks, checking fences and water troughs. He organises paddocks to be slashed and made into hay and had a successful calving season which will result in the cattle being sold when mature. Congratulations Jack and best of luck in the pursuit of your vision.                          Chris Pearson, Relieving Principal
