These improvements aim to provide Ulladulla families with access to world-class public education in modern, fit-for-purpose facilities. During their visit, our distinguished guests engaged with School Captains and student leaders, and observed a Year 12 Extension Science class where students presented their major project proposals. Mr Minns introduced himself to the students and listened with interest to their projects. Chloe Grabia's project, which was conducted at the NSW SciX program, is focused on stress and academic effort. Chloe Jeffers presented Mr Minns with a microscopic view of the macroalgae, Ulva. Her project is investigating the effects of farm runoff on Ulva (sea-lettuce) growth. Charotte Aynsley also had Mr Minns viewing her coral under a dissection microscope. Charotte demonstrated her experiment set up which is looking at pesticide runoff on corals. Lachlan Nunn spoke about his hopes to become a pharmacist and his upcoming survey on steroid use, which is investigating whether users understand the potential risks. And finally Joe Nelson, spoke about his project which is researching the potential use of Blue Oyster mushrooms in breaking down polystyrene, which generally takes over 500 years to naturally decompose.
The Premier and Minister were impressed by the students' enthusiasm and the innovative ideas showcased. Many questions were asked and answered.
Following the classroom visit, Deputy Premier Prue Car led a roundtable discussion with ten local principals in our library.
This unprecedented access allowed for an open dialogue on the complexities of running a school and explored ways the education system can further support principals in leading and managing their schools. These upgrades are part of the Minns Labor Government's record $8.9 billion investment in public education infrastructure, which includes $1.4 billion allocated for new and upgraded schools across regional NSW. We are excited about the forthcoming developments and the positive impact they will have on our students' learning environment. We extend our gratitude to Premier Minns, Minister Car, and Ms. Butler for their continued support and commitment to enhancing public education in our region.
