Asian Pacific Championship - Robotics

UHS Robotics team

On the 4 -7 July five girls from Year 10 competed at the Asian Pacific Championship for FIRST robotics. There were 54 teams from 41 countries competing at the tournament. The girls received 2nd place at the Australian National Titles which gave them the opportunity to compete. The teams are judged on 5 categories over the 4 days. First was the prepared robot challenge, then a 30 minute judging season to explain their project and all aspects of their robot and to see their teamwork.

Lastly an importuned, unseen robot challenge with half a day to build and program and run their robot to complete the set challenges. The team also had to participate in a cultural night where they had to prepare and deliver a 30 minute hands on activity to all the other teams. On top of all that they had to design a pit that show cased team Australia and show the journey over the season. At the completion of the competition the girls took out second place in the second highest award, Core Values. This award description is "The team displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, knows they can accomplish more together than they could as individuals, and shows each other and other teams respect at all times".
