World Bee Day… ‘We need Bees’

World Bee Day Australia

Have you noticed the bees appearing everywhere in our school…. Little paper bees, this is getting ready for World Bee Day, the SEC Team know the story “We Need Bees”.

Mrs Clarke with SEC students

We need bees for Food security -Bees are important to our livelihood as they help to pollinate most of the crops we eat and many that feed farm animals, for Biodiversity-There are over 20,000 species of bee that exist globally, and Australia is home to around 2,000 species of native bee, and Ecosystem Health. Bees provide essential pollination services for plants. On Tuesday the team will be selling cupcakes in break 2, raffling a beautiful piece of silver jewellery made by Mrs Clarke and will have Bee products available. The Team of Raphi, Amarli, Sam and Charlotte have been extremely proactive, and have secured a Beehive for the Ag Plot, donated by Mr Lees a Beekeeper and former Ag Teacher, we are so grateful. The outcome of the UHS SEC is to raise awareness of this powerful little insect that has such a big impact and use any funds to plant flowers. #worldDay #BEEday #BeeKeeper
