For many years our school has embedded coaching as an invaluable tool to support our students achieve academic excellence and support students to really set their minds to their goals. The brand of coaching at UHS is called ‘Evolve Coaching’, with enthusiastic lead coach Suzy Taplin, we deliver a world class coaching system built upon the knowledge and skills of a solutions focussed approach. Most recently Suzy has been trialling a research driven coaching tool called the Mindsetter Game, developed in the UK. The Year 12 students who have been part of the peer and group coaching for many years have continued to learn ways in which they can achieve their goals and develop their skills as a group. And of course, the Mindsetter game has been an engaging tool to support their process of understanding how goals are achieved and the best way to set good study habits. This has been invaluable in setting their path as they make their way to achieving their HSC. The coaching team of Suzy, Jon Youens and Amanda Grady are in demand, and have been inundated with students endeavouring to book in to be coached, so that they can set up good habits to achieve their goals. Jon has been leading group coaching sessions with Year 12 which has been appreciated, with the groups of students already feeling the impact.
