Rewarding Dispositions of Learning

The Merit Recognition Scheme encourages and celebrates students to build their own agency as articulated through the dispositions of learning. The Merit Scheme recognises efforts on a day-to-day basis as well as at a higher level of achievement. Parents may see that the Merits are labelled to align with the Dispositions of Learning. Teachers identify areas such as Curiosity, Focus, Grit as per the Learning Disposition Wheel. During class time teachers will reward students who are working well in any of these areas by recording a Merit on Sentral. Our Merits then accumulate for higher levels of awards. Currently we are working on the transition, to enable the improved system, and teachers, are already recognising student efforts across learning. #Focussedlearning #recognition #Grit
