Students take the lead at Performing Arts Camp

Circus students with Ms McCutcheon

On Wednesday May 5, 6 UHS students travelled to Tathra to work as student mentors at the Sapphire Coast Learning Community Creative and Performing Arts Camp. The students were from a range of year groups and volunteered their time and skills to teach circus to 70 students from 17 schools. The workshops culminated with a performance on Friday night for parents and teachers of the surrounding communities.

UHS students Jordan Magi, Grace Adams, Sara Pollack, Stella Chan, Lily Elliot and Erin Tebbutt worked 10 hour days to ensure every student at the camp was given the opportunity to experience all the circus apparatus and maximise their time at the camp. Our students are to be commended on their level of professionalism, kindness, expertise and enthusiasm; all of which were reflected in the smiles of the workshop participants and the parents who viewed the showcase on Friday night. Congratulations to these students for their mentoring and creating joy and magic for the Sapphire Coast Community last week and a massive thanks to their Teacher Ms McCutcheon for her dedication and organisation in making this experience possible.
