Final Days for Year 12: A Milestone Celebration and Preparation

Year 12 students

Congratulations to our Year 12 students for reaching the final stretch after 13 years of schooling! This is a momentous time filled with excitement, anticipation, and reflection as you prepare for the next big step in your journey. As the Term 3 holidays approach, it’s important to strike a balance between exam preparation and nurturing your well-being. The following tips will help you stay on track both academically and personally.

Prioritise Restful Sleep: A well-rested brain is sharper and more efficient, so aim for at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Try to stick to a regular sleep schedule by waking up at the same time you would on a school day. Quality sleep will help you retain information and stay energized.

Stay Physically Active: Daily exercise is key to maintaining focus and reducing stress. Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day – ideally outdoors. If you’re used to doing more, stick to your routine. An hour of movement is even better to boost your mood and mental clarity.

Maintain Social Connections: It’s essential to stay connected with family and friends. Use this time to nurture relationships that provide emotional support and balance. Surrounding yourself with positive people can help you stay motivated and grounded.

Schedule Time for Relaxation: Set aside at least three days during the holidays to completely unplug from schoolwork. Engage in activities that bring you joy, whether it’s reading, watching movies, or simply spending time in nature. This downtime is crucial for recharging your mind and body.

Nourish Your Body: Fuel your body with nutritious foods and stay hydrated. Try to limit your intake of sugar and caffeine, as these can interfere with your sleep, metabolism, and overall well-being. A healthy body supports a sharp mind, which is exactly what you need heading into your exams.

Plan Your Study Routine Wisely: Make sure to dedicate equal time to each subject. A balanced study schedule, with rotations between subjects throughout the day, can help keep your mind fresh and engaged. Consider including practice exams to gauge your progress and identify areas for improvement.

Finally, as you approach your last official days of secondary school, take time to reflect on the friendships and memories made over the years. The camaraderie of the Class of 2024 is something to cherish. We look forward to celebrating this milestone with you at the Year 12 Graduation Assembly on Wednesday, 25th September. Best wishes to all Year 12 students and their families as you navigate this exciting final week of school!
