Archibald Portraits Wow the Crowds

Year 11 Visual Arts students recently embarked on an exciting creative project, putting their own spin on the prestigious 'Archibald Portrait Prize.' Unlike the traditional competition, which often features distinguished figures from fields such as art, literature, science, or politics, these students focused their artistic talents on capturing the likenesses of members of the UHS staff. Each student meticulously crafted a resolved portrait painting of a UHS staff member, infusing their unique perspectives and artistic skills into their work. The culmination of their efforts was showcased in an exhibition held in the teacher's staffroom at the top of Q Block throughout Week 6. This display provided an opportunity for all staff members to engage with the students' creations and participate in the voting process for the People's Choice Award. The exhibition not only highlighted the students' artistic achievements but also fostered a sense of community and appreciation within the school. Congratulation to Amy Bruce with her winning portrait of SAS staff member Shelley Young, Jack Malone Taking out the People’s Choice award with a portrait of Terry Malone and the Packing Room Award went to Jordan Magi creatively capturing Sharon McCutcheon.
