Open Girls do it again!

open girls cricket team

Last Friday, the open girls cricket team travelled all the way to Bega to play against Bega High in the quarter final. They had another great win. The girls scored 134 in their innings with Ella Caffrey the star again with 30 runs, including 5 4's and a 6. Unfortunately she had to retire injured when her kneecap popped out while running. Elyza Wall (20 runs) and Lucy Allan (10 runs) then finished the innings off with a partnership of 50 (Some wides and no balls if you are concerned about my maths). The girls were a bit worried at the start of Bega's innings when their star state player was smashing fours everywhere but Claire Donnelly took a spectacular catch off Rosie Stephen's bowling to turn the game. Star Bowlers were Mackenzie Charlton 3 for 6, and Rosie Stephen 2 for 13 and Piper Jones again starred with the keeping gloves taking 4 great catches. Bega all out for 89. The girls all fielded brilliantly and batted out their 30 overs which is very important. Thanks to the parents that took the day off to drive all that way.
