Bells, Buses and time, to come together ‘Yana Djamaru’

Over the past several months, the school community has evaluated our learning programs, wellbeing data and student outcomes, and what has arisen is the need for a structure that allows student connection with an adult each day. The morning Djamaru will be based on research from the Berry Street Model that focusses on building a sense of belonging and strengthening relationships between both teachers and students, which is foundational, for a good learning culture. The school structure in 2024 will include a 20-minute morning group, aptly named Djamaru, the Dhurga word meaning ‘come together’. This change will facilitate an earlier start at 8:50 and an earlier finish at 2:50. The buses and our local partner primary schools are all on board to ensure a smooth transition as we work together for these new 2024 times.  We are very appreciative of the support from the community. #ChangeIsGood #BelongingFocus #DjamaruTogether
