Thank you from the Phoenix Conference.
The Years of 2019/20 were filled with unprecedented consecutive events from the Bushfires, Covid-19, Floods and Pestilence that continues to test school leadership, resolve and resilience across all NSW school communities. To recognise this, Principals across the state were invited to attend The Phoenix Conference in Sydney last week. Inspiring guest speakers and leaders such as Sir Peter Cosgrove and Shane Fitzsimmons shared their stories of loss and healing through adversity and how it tests the resilience of communities and young people. The message from the Department of Education to all Public School Communities and staff was one of genuine reflection, self-care and a massive thank you for your efforts in times of extreme continued adversity. A message that UHS would like to extend to its school staff and community- “Thank you” for your fortitude, care and conviction to all your students and your community during these times as it once again highlighted that NSW public schools and their staff are an integral, essential lever that continues to support communities and foster healing in times of adversity.
