Cody and Annie-Marie steered in the right direction

Cody and Annie-Marie Martin at steer competition

Ulladulla High School received a praising email, complimenting the exceptional achievement and stoicism of two of our students, during difficult conditions at the South Coast Steer Spectacular Competition held on Wednesday 5 May. Cody and Annie-Maree Martin with the assistance of their parents, mentors Kade King and Susan and Steve Nicholas who donated the steers, represented the school in the competition and from all accounts did an exceptional job. The students were commended on their manners, respect and how well they did at the event.

“For students who were novices, they did an exceptional job. The steers were presented to a high standard and they have obviously worked very hard on their parading skills, as they did not look like first time paraders. A credit to them both. In the pouring rain, at the end of a huge day, they were still very polite and still smiling”.

UHS Agricultural teacher Mrs Carolyn Carden stated that the Ag department has not included this competition as part of the curriculum as we do not have the space or special requirements at the school farm to manage steers, but due to their interest and enthusiasm, the students completed all of the training, maintaining and growing of the steers at their own farm and should be double proud of their outstanding efforts.
