NFL Report

Collage of photos from NFL Day

After weeks of preparation, the 5th Annual Year 9 Superbowl kicked off on Monday of Week 9.  The NFL players skill and strategic development was displayed after training intensely during PE and Sport lessons. They faced each other in 15 minute games, using their set plays to try and progress down the field and score a touchdown.  The sheer enthusiasm and competitiveness made for an exciting atmosphere to set the day.
In between NFL rounds, the cheer teams performed their absolutely outstanding routines! The level of passion and talent they displayed in choreographing, rehearsing and performing was one of the best we have seen since running the NFL Superbowl at UHS!

Cheerleading groups

Come NFL Semi-Finals we saw the Williams Wildcats (9V) play the Rothquel Bulls (9G), and the Blue Panthers (9B) face the Gladiators(9I). Unfortunately both games were tied at full time, so the decision was made to go by number of touchdowns scored in the rounds, leaving the William Wildcats and the Gladiators to square off in the Grand Final.

It was an intense game, with all involved putting in 100% effort! Cheerleaders stood on the sideline cheering on their team and spectators were in awe. A couple of extremely technical manoeuvres left the Gladiators as the winners at the full time buzzer. Congratulations 9I on your win!

To finish the day, the Cheerleaders took to the floor for a final performance. The cheer captains had choreographed a short routine and taught it to all cheer groups during Sport. This was the first year this had been done and it was very impressive! They then performed their routines simultaneously in hope to be the last one standing. While the judges said "they really couldn't decide" because all groups were so outstanding, the winning cheer team was 9G - The Rothquel Bulls.

Congratulations Bulls you were amazing!

A highly successful day attributed to the hard work of the PE staff and an awesome group of Year 9 Students. A special thanks to Milumba Support Unit for putting on the Hot Dog stand, and Mr Skinner for lending out the music equipment.
