"Hiking the Kokoda trail will forever be one of my greatest and proudest achievements. The physical and mental challenge of the trail has given me the resources to merge the skills and self-management dexterity learnt into everyday life to fuel the drive to become the best version of myself I can be. The history I learnt combined with the emotions I felt gave an understanding and significance as to why the diggers fought for what they did. I cannot thank the Milton Ulladulla Ex-Servos Club and the RSL sub branch enough for this amazing opportunity they have provided and I truly hope this program is the start to ongoing years as it really is something that our youth of the community will benefit and thrive from. "The 10 days I spent trekking the Kokoda Trail were unbelievably amazing. It was physically demanding yet with the right mindset, a bit of grit, inspiration and determination each mountain seemed to gradually get smaller. I learnt not only about our countries military history and Papua New Guineas culture, but also about the importance of teamwork, leadership and truly knowing yourself - strengths AND weakness. Charlie Lynn the man behind Adventure Kokoda, biggest legend and luckily enough our trek guide really brought the historical sites to life by sharing stories of what our selfless soldiers endued for the freedom we have today. It was an eye opening lesson into our countries history, view on war and military operation as well as an inspirational, insightful and overall challenging yet exciting journey! I am forever grateful for such a life changing experience provided by our local Milton Ulladulla Exservo's and RSL Sub Branch. There are so many mind-blowing experiences I just can't put into words!!
