Early this year some of our alumni students starred in the documentary ‘New Years Day’. New Years Day is a film that is an intimate portrait of four young women Cassie, Tylah, Rosie, & Takesa, three of which have only just graduated from UHS. Through their stories of the summer, the film examines the collective resilience of our community, humility & courage amidst tragedy. In a society often criticized for becoming increasingly disconnected, the bush fire season showed the opposite. People of our community supported and relied on neighbours, volunteers, firefighters, local reporters, community notice pages, & more. The fires unearthed an interconnectedness & selflessness across the communities. The film shows our former students, reflecting on the past 12 months and the anticipation of the year to come. During our excellence assemblies we will be showcasing aspects of this fantastic film. We are very proud of the contribution from our students. #community #Resilence and #courage
