Shoalhaven Schools Excellence in Vocational Education &Training Awards 2020

VET student award nominees

I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the students who were nominated and presented certificates for the 2020 VET Awards, during a small luncheon in the school library last Tuesday.

To be eligible students are nominated by their school, TAFE, EVET or local employers who have hosted the students on industry work placement. The eight Year 12 students were thrilled to have completed their courses which included work placement experience in a diverse range of areas such as retail, entertainment, construction, education, hospitality and business services.

Thank you to our School Business Partnership Manager, Mrs Linda Hawkins for facilitating the awards and our school VET Coordinator and Careers Adviser, Mrs Ingold, plus Mrs Gabrielle Curry and Mrs Shane Davies for their work and support towards all the VET and SBAT students.

VET Student of the Year:
Ally England Business Services

A special congratulations to Ally England who was awarded with the winning certificate after completing her Business Services course. Ally stated that she enjoyed her work placement experience with a local Real Estate Agency but was undecided if she will be pursuing this as her future career.
Joshua Wallace completed his construction course and suggested that he may like to train as an electrician next year, while Jason Hughes is looking at becoming a primary school teacher after completing his early childhood course.

Workplace Learning is active in creating opportunities for students to commence apprenticeships and traineeships whilst still at school. Without the support and enthusiasm of employers and teachers this program would not be the success that it is. A great partnership between industry, schools and students. A win win for everyone.
