Year 9 Commerce students

$20 Boss Program

As technology and automation sweeps through our workplaces, enterprise skills are what the current and future workers will need. These include digital literacy, communication, collaboration, teamwork, creativity and problem-solving. It is increasingly important as an average 15 year-old is expected to navigate 17 jobs across 5 different careers.  The jobs of the future, or those jobs that are least likely to be automated, demand enterprise skills 70% more frequently than in the past.  The Year 9 Commerce classes have embarked on a new project, the $20 Boss Program. Students are given $20 start-up capital to build a business, with a focus on ethical business. At the end of the project, they will repay their $20 and donate profits to a charity. Many of the $20 Boss Business will be operating at the upcoming UHS Expo.
